Greenwich man wins $500K on Cashword ticket sold at Byram Smoke Shop

Patrick G. of Greenwich has won a $500,000 top prize playing the Connecticut Lottery’s $500,000 Cashword scratch-off game, lottery officials confirmed Monday.

The winning ticket was purchased at Byram Smoke Shop in Greenwich. Patrick claimed the prize on May 5. The win marks one of the top prizes available in the popular Cashword series of scratch-off games.

Byram Smoke Shop, located in lower Fairfield County, will receive a retailer commission for selling the winning ticket. The Connecticut Lottery did not disclose whether the prize was paid in a lump sum or annuity.

The $500,000 Cashword game has been a consistent performer for the state lottery, featuring multiple top prizes and various lower-tier winnings. Players match words in a crossword-style layout to determine prize amounts.

This latest win adds to a growing list of recent big-ticket prize claims across Connecticut, reinforcing continued strong participation in high-stakes scratch-off games.
