A Cumberland woman was arrested Friday morning after police said she assaulted a resident and unlawfully entered a home on Columbia Street.
Cumberland, MD – A Cumberland woman is facing multiple charges following an alleged assault and burglary reported Friday morning in the city’s South End neighborhood. Officers with the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 400 block of Columbia Street at approximately 7:56 a.m. after receiving a report of a burglary and assault in progress.
According to police, officers contacted both the resident and the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Rachael Lynn McKenzie. Investigators determined that McKenzie allegedly assaulted the resident and entered the residence without authorization.

Authorities charged McKenzie with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, fourth-degree burglary of a dwelling, and malicious destruction of property valued at less than $1,000.
Court records show the charges stem from the events reported at the Columbia Street residence. Additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident were not immediately released.
Separate summonses served in trespassing cases
In unrelated cases Friday, Cumberland police served criminal summonses on Macario Frank Gonzales Jr., 44, and Caitlin Michelle Gonzales, 30, both of Cumberland. The summonses were issued after a private citizen filed charges in the District Court of Allegany County.
Both individuals were charged with trespassing on private property and were released pending trial.
