JACKSON, NJ — A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for portions of New Jersey’s coastal waters through 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Philadelphia.
The watch, issued at 1:47 p.m., covers coastal and offshore areas from Sandy Hook to Fenwick Island, Delaware, including the Delaware Bay. Forecasters warn of conditions favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that could produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and dangerous lightning.
Areas included in the alert stretch from Manasquan Inlet to Little Egg Inlet, as well as surrounding waters extending up to 20 nautical miles offshore. The advisory also includes coastal zones from Cape May to Cape Henlopen and across both the northern and southern portions of Delaware Bay.
Mariners in the affected regions are advised to monitor local forecasts and remain prepared to take immediate action if warnings are issued.
