Drunk Man Steals Work Vehicle, Found Passed Out Behind Wheel

August 27, 2024

STAFFORD, Va. — A 39-year-old man was arrested late Sunday night after allegedly stealing a vehicle from his workplace while intoxicated, marking his fourth DUI-related offense. The suspect, identified as Tyler Bober, reportedly took a Cadillac belonging to Auto Chiefs, a business located on Tyler Von Way, as a form of retaliation against his employer.

The incident occurred around 11:54 p.m. on August 25. Deputy J.A. Martin responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at Auto Chiefs, where it was disclosed that Bober, an employee of the business, had taken the Cadillac while under the influence of alcohol. According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, Bober’s actions were fueled by his grievances against his boss.

Upon receiving the initial report, Deputy Martin immediately broadcasted the vehicle’s description to nearby law enforcement units. Approximately 15 minutes later, First Sergeant N. Zotos located the stolen Cadillac parked at a residence in the 1000 block of Richmond Highway. Bober, who was found behind the wheel, exhibited clear signs of intoxication, according to the authorities.

Further investigation revealed that Bober’s driver’s license had been revoked due to three prior DUI convictions, one of which had been publicly noted in a release back in January 2021. Bober was taken into custody at the scene and now faces additional charges related to the stolen vehicle and driving under the influence.

“This is what happened,” the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement regarding the incident. Bober is expected to be arraigned in the coming days.
