74-year-old struck and killed as driver leaves scene in Milford
MILFORD, Del. — A 74-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene in a hit-and-run crash in Milford.
The incident happened around 8:10 p.m. on March 23 along Milford-Harrington Highway east of Church Hill Road, according to Delaware State Police.
Investigators said the victim was walking westbound, possibly near or inside the roadway, when he was hit by an unknown vehicle traveling in the same direction.
The driver fled the scene, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
His identity has not been released pending notification of family.
The roadway was shut down for an extended period while crews investigated and cleared the scene.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation.
