Family outing turns into $34K lottery win for Prince George’s County woman

Hyattsville college student scores $34K Racetrax win thanks to dad’s betting advice

HYATTSVILLE, MD — A Prince George’s County college student turned a family outing into a five-figure payday after taking her father’s lottery advice and placing a $30 Racetrax bet that delivered a $34,432.50 prize.

The winner, a Hyattsville resident, claimed the prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on October 29. She credited her father — a longtime Lottery player — for recommending the Racetrax Superfecta Wheel bet that led to the big win.

The ticket was purchased during a recent shopping trip at Calverton Exxon, located at 4040 Powder Mill Road in Beltsville. The play covered 15 races. The winner had left the ticket with her father for safekeeping and received a call from him later that evening with the news that her ticket had won more than $34,000.

The Calverton Exxon will receive a $344.32 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The winner said the prize comes at a time of multiple family celebrations, and she plans to use a portion of her winnings to mark those occasions.
