Wallet gone and tires vanished as vehicles targeted across county

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A series of overnight thefts and break-ins struck neighborhoods across Elkridge, Columbia, Ellicott City, and Laurel this week, with items ranging from wallets to entire vehicles reported stolen, according to the Howard County Police Department’s daily crime bulletin released Thursday.

In Elkridge, a vehicle break-in was reported around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 6500 block of Huntshire Drive. Police said it remains unclear what, if anything, was taken from the vehicle.

In Columbia’s 21045 ZIP code, a wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 8900 block of Watchlight Court sometime overnight between Oct. 29 and 30.

Ellicott City residents in the 8300 block of Montgomery Run Road woke up to discover a vehicle had been stripped of its tires overnight, also between Oct. 29 and 30.

Meanwhile, two vehicles were reported stolen this week. In Laurel, a 2011 silver Infiniti G25 with Maryland tags 2ES3060 was reported stolen sometime between Oct. 25 and Oct. 30 from the 9000 block of Stebbing Way. In Columbia, a 2015 white Nissan 370Z bearing Maryland tags 7CY0217 was taken overnight between Oct. 29 and 30 from the 6200 block of Deep River Canyon.

Howard County Police are continuing to investigate each incident and encourage residents to secure their vehicles and report any suspicious activity.
