Driver killed after truck overturns in Georgetown crash

GEORGETOWN, Del. — A 23-year-old man was killed after his truck left the roadway and overturned in a single-vehicle crash in Georgetown.

The crash happened around 5:10 p.m. on March 22 along Zoar Road near Governor Stockley Road, according to Delaware State Police.

Investigators said a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound when it failed to navigate a curve, veered into a farm field and struck an irrigation system and a utility pole before flipping onto its roof.

The driver, identified as William Chilel-Ramirez of Millsboro, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The roadway was closed for an extended period while crews investigated and cleared the scene.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
