NEW CASTLE, Del. — A Wilmington man was arrested on felony drug and weapon charges after a high-speed traffic stop in New Castle led to the discovery of cocaine concealed in a bottle of iced tea, Delaware State Police said.

Charles Blackshear, 40, was pulled over at approximately 8:26 p.m. Monday after a trooper spotted his red Toyota Camry speeding through a Royal Farms parking lot and committing multiple traffic violations on North Dupont Highway. When stopped, Blackshear was wearing a black mask that obstructed his face, and police determined his license was suspended.

Authorities said the Toyota was a rental, and Blackshear was not listed as an authorized driver. After being ordered out of the vehicle, troopers conducted a consensual search and located a concealed knife in his waistband.

A further search of the car uncovered several cell phones and 21.78 grams of cocaine packed in plastic bags submerged in a bottle of iced tea inside the center console, police said.

Blackshear, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing deadly weapons, was taken into custody without incident. He was processed at Troop 2 and charged with drug possession, possession with intent to deliver, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and multiple traffic violations.

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released after posting a $30,302 secured bond.
