Wild chase ends with suspects in custody after ramming FBI vehicle in Westchester
ARMONK, NY — A high-speed pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies came to a dramatic end after a fleeing vehicle rammed an FBI car before being stopped in traffic, officials said.
The chaos began around 9:06 a.m. Wednesday when New York State Police attempted to stop a black Acura traveling southbound on Interstate 684 near Bedford, according to the North Castle Police Department.
Authorities said the driver refused to pull over and fled the attempted stop, continuing along I-684 before exiting the highway.
Minutes later, the vehicle was spotted on Route 22 in Armonk, where local, state, federal and county law enforcement units converged to track it down.
During the pursuit, an FBI unit located the suspect vehicle near Maple Avenue — but officials said the driver intentionally rammed the FBI vehicle before continuing to flee southbound on Route 22.
With assistance from Westchester County Police and other agencies, officers were able to follow the vehicle as it looped back onto I-684 and then re-entered Armonk.
The chase came to an end when the vehicle became stuck in traffic on Route 22 just north of Maple Avenue, allowing officers to move in and stop it.
Both the driver and a passenger were taken into custody and turned over to New York State Police for further investigation.
Officials said the incident highlights the coordinated response between multiple agencies, including New York State Police, Westchester County Police and the FBI.
