Deputies say more suspected cocaine was found at the detention center
LUSBY, MD — A Florida man faces multiple drug charges after deputies allegedly discovered suspected cocaine during a traffic stop in Lusby, with additional narcotics later recovered at the county detention center.
The traffic stop occurred at approximately 7:05 p.m. July 16 on Rousby Hall Road near Robin Court after Sgt. Kelly stopped a vehicle for a moving violation.
According to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, DFC R. Jones and K9 Bane responded to the scene. K9 Bane alerted to the odor of a controlled dangerous substance, leading deputies to search the vehicle.
Investigators said they recovered drug paraphernalia, including a plastic “rip-off” baggie and pieces of Brillo copper mesh.
A search of passenger Jeremy Mark Owens, 37, of Jennings, Florida, allegedly uncovered about 2 grams of suspected cocaine concealed inside a folded dollar bill.
After Owens was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, deputies said another plastic bag containing about 4 grams of suspected cocaine fell to the ground as he exited the transport vehicle. Deputies also located suspected narcotics inside the transport cage.
Owens was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
