Fugitive sought for months found by levy county deputies

Deputies had been searching for Philip Swanson (4/11/81) of Williston for months. Swanson had several active warrants for his arrest based on a 2020 arrest for drugs and domestic violence and had been avoiding apprehension. The LCSO received a tip on Friday, November 19th that Swanson was seen in a yard at 6750 NE 139th Avenue and devised a plan to arrest him. Detectives knew Swanson would do anything to avoid arrest and had prior information that he could be in possession of firearms.

Detectives approached the home and were immediately spotted by Swanson. Swanson fled into a wooded lot with deputies giving chase. After a 150 yard sprint, the pursing deputies had to utilize a Taser to immobilize him.

Swanson was transported to the Levy County Detention Facility and charged with three outstanding warrants and two new charges of resisting arrest and a new violation of the conditions of his release from jail related to the 2020 arrest. He is being held on a $50,000 bond and the new violation of conditional release violation charge was assigned a No Bond.
