DORCHESTER, Mass. — A quick stop at a Dorchester grocery store turned into a multimillion-dollar payday after a Massachusetts Lottery player hit a $10 million grand prize on a scratch ticket purchased from a self-service machine inside a Stop & Shop.
Rock Solid Trust of Reading claimed the prize from the Massachusetts State Lottery’s $10,000,000 Instant Millions instant ticket game, lottery officials announced.
The trust, represented by trustee Joshua Garick, selected the cash option and received a one-time payment of $6.5 million before taxes.
According to lottery officials, the winner plans to invest the money and help support family members.
