Cache of guns and drugs uncovered in Dorchester raid as suspect arrested
Boston, MA — A two-month investigation led to the arrest of a Dorchester man and the seizure of multiple firearms and drugs during coordinated raids involving Boston police and federal agents.
Members of the Boston Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, working alongside the FBI’s Metro Boston Gang Task Force, executed search warrants Wednesday tied to an ongoing investigation.
Authorities located 51-year-old Keto Powell outside a convenience store on Dorchester Avenue, where he was taken into custody without incident. A search of his person recovered approximately 7 grams of crack cocaine, marijuana, cash, and packaging materials.
Investigators then searched an apartment on Mallon Road, which they determined was operating as an illegal rooming house. Inside, officers detained another individual during a protective sweep.
Using keys recovered from Powell, officers accessed a room linked to him and recovered four firearms, including multiple handguns with obliterated serial numbers. Police also seized ammunition, a large-capacity feeding device, digital scales, suspected narcotics, and additional cash.
Powell was transported to Nashua Street Jail and is expected to face multiple charges, including firearm and ammunition violations, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, improper firearm storage, and drinking alcohol in public.
The investigation remains ongoing.
