Gun-waving driver busted near arundel mills in road rage incident

HANOVER, MD — A 63-year-old Hanover man was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly flashing a loaded handgun during a road rage incident near a major shopping and entertainment district.

Officers with the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded around 2:30 p.m. to the intersection of Arundel Mills Boulevard and Ridge Road in Hanover, where a suspect reportedly displayed a firearm at another motorist during a confrontation, according to the department.

Police say they located the suspect’s vehicle shortly after the incident on Arundel Mills Boulevard near Route 100. Officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered a loaded handgun inside the car.

The driver, identified as Gary Earnest Hines, was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with multiple handgun-related offenses, police said.

No injuries were reported, and police have not released details about the other party involved in the road rage dispute.

Charges filed, gun confiscated

Hines, a resident of Hanover, Maryland, is being held pending a court appearance. Authorities did not specify the exact charges but confirmed they are related to handgun violations.

Anne Arundel County Police did not disclose whether Hines had a permit for the firearm or what led to the initial confrontation.
