JACKSON, N.J. — A young pit bull mix named Lana remains at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility after her owners failed to reclaim her, leaving her to wait for a new forever home.
Lana, approximately three years old, arrived at the shelter as a stray. Her previous owners were contacted and initially planned to pick her up but never followed through.
Described as active and affectionate, Lana has passed all her assessments, has no resource-guarding issues, and enjoys playing with toys. She walks well on a leash and bonds closely with people. Shelter staff believe she would do best as the only pet in a home with children over the age of 12.
The shelter notes that black dogs and cats often face longer wait times for adoption. Lana is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm-negative, and microchipped. She is available for adoption at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, located at 615 Freemont Ave. in Jackson. The shelter is open daily from 1 to 4 p.m.
