Lakewood, NJ – Harold Galloway, 53, of Lakewood, confessed on April 22 to possessing crack cocaine with intent to distribute, along with firearms possession and carjacking charges from various incidents. Prosecutors plan to seek a collective prison term for the charges. Galloway will be sentenced on June 28 and is facing 15 years for drug distribution, seven years for illegal firearm possession, and a ten-year term for the carjacking. The carjacking sentence will be under the No Early Release Act, serving all concurrently.
In the incident dated August 19, 2021, Lakewood Township detectives observed suspicious activity around a parked vehicle in John Street. Following a motor vehicle stop later at a gas station, the driver, identified as Galloway, attempted to flee after grabbing a bag containing crack cocaine and cash. After a chase, Galloway was apprehended, and the drugs and money were recovered. Despite his arrest, he was released due to New Jersey Bail Reform.
Galloway was the subject of an ongoing narcotics investigation that led to his arrest on June 8, 2023. Detectives found heroin, oxycodone, and a firearm in his Madison Avenue motel room. He was taken into custody but later released under New Jersey’s Bail Reform Act. Another incident on September 28, 2023, involved a carjacking on First Street, where Galloway, armed with a revolver, threatened two men before fleeing in a Ford F150. Detectives identified Galloway as the suspect and apprehended him at a motel, recovering stolen items from the victims and locating the stolen vehicle nearby. He has been detained since and awaiting sentencing at Ocean County Jail. Assistant Prosecutor Lynn Juan and various law enforcement agencies have been commended for their efforts in assisting with Galloway’s case.
