Prince George’s County bus driver lands 50000 win after lunch break stop

BALTIMORE, MD — A routine lunch outing turned into a major surprise for a Prince George’s County school bus driver after he scratched off a $50,000 prize in his car, ending his workday with what he described as the biggest shock of his life.

The Suitland resident claimed the win at Lottery headquarters on Feb. 12. He said he had just finished dropping off his final group of students and stopped for lunch when he noticed a lottery retailer near the restaurant. A regular scratch-off player, he bought a 50X the Cash ticket on impulse. The $10 game launched Jan. 9.

He said he often tries new games and once won $600 doing so. After selecting 50X the Cash for the first time, he scratched the ticket in his car and uncovered a $50,000 prize. He told officials the moment felt overwhelming and entirely unexpected.

The Lucky Lottery store at 6029 Marlboro Pike in District Heights sold the winning ticket. He is the second player to claim a $50,000 second-tier prize from the game, which still has eight more at that level and six $100,000 top prizes remaining.
