California visitor scores 50000 lottery win during family trip to Maryland

BALTIMORE, MD — A California man visiting his daughter in Maryland turned a routine stop for a scratch-off ticket into a $50,000 win, adding an unexpected highlight to his family trip after uncovering a top prize on the Festive Fortune game.

The winner, who plays the Lottery regularly back home, bought the $5 holiday-themed scratch-off at the Check Cash Depot at 7560 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. He claimed the prize on Feb. 13 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, accompanied by his granddaughter. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus.

The winner said the prize will go into savings, and he plans to continue playing.

Lottery officials reported that four of the original eight $50,000 prizes on the Festive Fortune game remain unclaimed. The scratch-off still offers tens of thousands of additional prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000.

The holiday season may have ended, but the winter release continues to deliver significant wins for players across the state.
