Car thief caught after foot chase in Worthington parking lot break-in

COLUMBUS, OH — A suspected car thief was arrested early Monday after officers responded to a report of two men breaking into vehicles in a parking lot along Worthington Road and chased down one of the suspects on foot.

The Columbus Division of Police said officers were dispatched at 2:18 a.m. to the 9000 block of Worthington Road after a caller reported seeing two individuals tampering with cars. When police arrived, the suspects took off running, sparking a brief foot pursuit.

One of the men was caught and taken into custody near the scene. After reviewing video evidence provided by the caller, officers confirmed the suspect was seen exiting a stolen vehicle moments before the chase.

He was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property – Automobile. The second suspect remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
