Washington, D.C. – A man has been arrested in connection with the tragic death of a 5-year-old boy in Northwest D.C.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reported that officers responded to the 4500 block of Connecticut Avenue on October 6, around 9:45 a.m., to investigate the child’s death.
In an update on October 7, authorities announced the arrest of 32-year-old DeAndre Pettus, who has been charged with First Degree Cruelty to Children (Aggravated Assault).
Details regarding the circumstances surrounding the child’s death remain limited, and the child’s name has not yet been released.
