PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 34-year-old man was rushed to the hospital late Friday after being shot multiple times inside a Poplar Street residence, leaving detectives searching for answers as the investigation intensifies.

The shooting happened around 11:43 p.m. on the 5500 block of Poplar Street in the city’s 19th District. Responding officers found the victim suffering from several gunshot wounds inside the home.


He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where doctors listed him in critical but stable condition.

Police said the motive for the shooting remains unknown, and no arrests have been made. The case has been assigned to the Philadelphia Police Shooting Investigation Group, which is working to determine who opened fire and why.

Detectives are canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage, but officials have not released details on how many shots were fired or whether the gunman forced entry into the residence. The victim’s name has not been made public.
