WASHINGTON, D.C. – A fatal shooting incident near a Southeast D.C. daycare resulted in the death of a man Tuesday evening, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of a car crash in the 3200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. On arrival, they discovered a vehicle in the parking lot of the daycare, with the victim found inside suffering from a head injury, later identified as a gunshot wound.

The man was declared dead at the scene, and his identity has yet to be disclosed. Homicide detectives were observed examining a gray car in the parking lot for clues. The status of the daycare at the time of the shooting, whether it was open or closed, and the precise location of the shooting have not been confirmed.
