BALTIMORE, Md. — A 51-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred Saturday in the city’s Central District, police said.
Tyrell John Curtis, 39, died after being stabbed during an altercation in the 100 block of South Broadway around 2:09 a.m. on June 21. He was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Baltimore Police identified the suspect as Idris Malik Ramos. Investigators determined that a dispute between Ramos and Curtis escalated into a deadly confrontation.
On Monday, June 23, patrol officers arrested Ramos without incident. He was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.
Victim found stabbed in early morning hours
Police first responded to the area early Saturday after receiving a report of a serious cutting. Officers found Curtis with a stab wound to the body and immediately requested medical assistance.
Medics arrived and transported Curtis to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The motive for the altercation remains under investigation.
No additional suspects are being sought at this time, and police have not released further details on the relationship between the two men.
