Maryland Lottery player quietly pockets $50K in Perry Hall

Nottingham man wins $50K on Ravens scratch-off despite not being a fan

Nottingham, MD – A warehouse worker who doesn’t watch football is walking away with a $50,000 prize after buying a Ravens-themed scratch-off ticket simply because he liked the design — not the team.

The lucky player, a resident of Nottingham, scored the second-tier win on a $10 Ravens X10 scratch-off purchased at the Perry Hall BP located at 8809 Belair Road. He quietly scratched the ticket in the store, saw the $50,000 match, and calmly left without making a scene, according to his son, who accompanied him to Maryland Lottery headquarters on Thursday.

“He wanted to keep it to himself,” the son said. “He checked it and got out of the store without showing any excitement.”

Though the man doesn’t follow football, he told Lottery officials he was drawn to the scratch-off by its artwork. The Ravens X10 and $2 Ravens X2 tickets launched on August 20 as part of a seasonal promotion tied to the Baltimore Ravens.

This marks the first $50,000 prize claimed in the Ravens X10 game. Three more $50,000 prizes remain, along with all four of the game’s $200,000 top prizes. Lower-tier prizes range from $10 to $1,000.

The winner said he plans to use the money for a home improvement project. His identity has not been publicly released.
