Masked trio ambushes man outside Laurel hotel in violent stabbing attack
LAUREL, MD — A man was stabbed during a violent early morning ambush outside a Laurel hotel after three masked suspects approached him in a parking lot and launched an attack, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
The stabbing happened Thursday, May 7, at about 3:50 a.m. near the Garden Inn parking lot in the 3400 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road.
Investigators said the adult male victim was standing outside a vehicle with two other people when three unknown masked males approached.
Police said a physical altercation broke out and one of the suspects stabbed the victim in the torso.
As the two people inside the vehicle attempted to flee, investigators said one suspect threw a rock through the driver’s side window, shattering the glass and striking the driver in the left arm.
During the struggle, the stabbing victim managed to gain possession of the knife before the suspects fled the area.
Authorities also learned that before the attack, one of the suspects allegedly punctured the front and rear passenger-side tires of a parked vehicle belonging to a hotel guest.
The victim was transported to an area trauma center and listed in stable condition.
Detectives believe the incident was targeted and not random.
The investigation remains active.
