Multiple DUI Incidents Reported in Stafford County

Stafford County, VA — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reported several DUI-related arrests across various locations in the county on June 28 and June 29, 2024.

Excel Inn and Suites on Warrenton Road – Early on June 28, Sergeant J.D. Hurt observed a Kia making an illegal U-turn at a red light. The driver, already with a revoked license from a previous DUI, showed signs of intoxication and was charged with driving under the influence while revoked, second offense refusal, and failure to obey a traffic light. He is currently held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Fas Mart on Richmond Highway – Later that morning, deputies responded to a call about a driver “nodding off” at the wheel. The female driver, who had just left court, was found intoxicated and in possession of controlled substances. She faces charges including driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, and is held on a $1,000 bond.

Intersection of Richmond Highway and Washington Drive – A woman was found asleep in her car, which was still in drive, with a young child in the backseat. After admitting to drinking, she was charged with DUI, child neglect, and driving while revoked. Her bond is set at $3,000.

Choptank Road – Late at night, deputies dealt with a disturbance involving an intoxicated driver who had run out of gas and assaulted one of her passengers. She faces charges of DUI, refusal, and assault and battery, and was held until sober.

Wawa on Garrisonville Road – On June 29, a hit-and-run incident involving a light pole led to the arrest of another intoxicated driver who was detained until sober after being charged with DUI and reckless driving.

These incidents highlight ongoing issues with impaired driving in the area, prompting the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office to urge residents to drive responsibly and avoid driving under the influence
