New Rochelle, NY – A Westchester County man has been arrested after police say he made threats against the New Rochelle Schools Superintendent, prompting an investigation and court-ordered restrictions.

Samuel McVey, 46, of Briarcliff Manor, was taken into custody after detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging him with aggravated harassment in the second degree, a misdemeanor. Officers executed the warrant at his residence without incident.

Arrest follows investigation into threats

“Detectives developed sufficient probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for McVey charging him with Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree,” New Rochelle Police said.

McVey was transported to police headquarters for processing before being arraigned in New Rochelle City Court.

Protection order issued covering all schools

Following his arraignment, a temporary order of protection was issued prohibiting McVey from contacting the superintendent or going near any Board of Education buildings, including all New Rochelle schools.

“The New Rochelle Police Department takes all threats seriously and works diligently to protect the safety of our community,” the department stated.

Police said the investigation remains open and are asking anyone with additional information to come forward.
