NJ Youth Soccer Coach Arrested For Molestation

FREEHOLD, NJ – Ryan Gunsauls, a 32-year-old youth soccer coach from Union Beach, faces multiple charges, including endangering the welfare of children and distributing obscene materials to minors. Gunsauls engaged in inappropriate behavior with eight student-athletes, Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Christopher J. Decker unveiled this information on Tuesday.

Following a recent investigation by the MCPO Special Victims Bureau and Union Beach Police Department, new details emerged about allegations against Gunsauls. The authorities learned that he was exchanging explicit materials and messages with minors, leading to charges related to eight victims between the ages of 11 and 17.

Gunsauls was taken into custody in Hazlet last Friday, May 11, without any issues. The accused coach is currently detained at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, awaiting a detention hearing scheduled for Monday, May 20, at the Monmouth County Superior Court. The case is under the prosecution of Assistant Prosecutor Keri-Leigh Schaefer from the MCPO Special Victims Bureau.

Individuals with additional information relevant to the case are encouraged to reach out to MCPO Detective Joseph Mason at 800-533-7443.
