Ohio man hits $50K jackpot on gas station scratch-off

Stark County man wins $50K jackpot on high-stakes scratch-off

UNIONTOWN, OH – A Stark County resident just struck it big with a $50,000 win on a high-dollar Ohio Lottery scratch-off ticket bought at a GetGo gas station in Akron, lottery officials announced Tuesday.

The winning ticket was sold at Get Go #3029, located at 1796 Canton Rd., and came from the Ultimate $5,000,000 scratch-off—a $50 game touted as having the best odds in Ohio history to win a $5 million prize.

The lucky winner opted to remain anonymous but is walking away with $36,625 after 26.75% in mandatory federal and state taxes were withheld.

As of January 20, six top prizes remain in the Ultimate $5,000,000 game: $200,000 a year for 25 years. In addition to those massive payouts, there are still 98 unclaimed second-tier prizes worth $50,000—like the one hit by the Stark County man.

The $50 scratch-off is one of the most lucrative tickets in the Ohio Lottery’s portfolio, offering players significantly higher prize tiers than lower-cost games.

Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to support education across the state.
