WASHINGTON, D.C. – A fatal incident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle occurred early Saturday morning and is now under investigation by the Major Crash Investigations Unit.

The event transpired around 1:40 a.m. in the 600 block of L Street SE. Torre Desmond Gray Sr., a 37-year-old man from Temple Hills, MD, was walking westbound on the street towards a parked pick-up truck. As Gray approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, the truck began moving and collided with him.

Gray was immediately taken to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The truck’s driver initially fled the scene but has since contacted the police. Initial findings suggest that the driver and the decedent were acquainted.
