NEW YORK, NY — A quiet New Year’s morning in the Bronx turned deadly when a gunman opened fire near a major expressway, killing a 55-year-old man and vanishing into the city.

The shooting happened Thursday, January 1, at about 6:50 a.m. near Morris Avenue and the Cross Bronx Expressway, within the confines of the 46th Precinct. The suspect, identified by investigators as Ehinel Troncoso, is accused of firing a handgun and striking the victim in the head, causing fatal injuries.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests have been announced, and investigators have not released details about a possible motive or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
