Pomona crash leaves pregnant woman, boyfriend and unborn child dead after police chase

A domestic violence suspect fleeing officers is accused of causing a deadly collision that killed a couple and their unborn child just weeks before the baby was due.

POMONA, CA – A police response to a domestic violence call Wednesday night ended in a fatal crash that claimed the lives of 25-year-old Jennifer Loera-Zarco, 26-year-old Marc Anthony Trejo Saldivar, and their unborn son, after a suspect allegedly rammed a patrol vehicle and sped away before slamming into the couple’s car. The crash unfolded around 9:30 p.m. near East 10th Street and Garey Avenue, according to the Pomona Police Department.

Marshall Judson, 31, has been charged with three counts of murder. Police said officers initially responded to a domestic violence call in the 400 block of East 10th Street, where Judson had been identified as the suspect. While officers were still on scene speaking with the victim, Judson returned in a truck.

Investigators said Judson was driving recklessly and “intentionally struck” a patrol vehicle before fleeing, prompting a pursuit southbound on Garey Avenue. During the chase, Judson crashed into a Ford Fusion carrying Loera-Zarco and Trejo Saldivar. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The unborn child did not survive.

Suspect arrested after pursuit and crash

Officers took Judson into custody following the crash. Authorities said a firearm and “miscellaneous firearm components” were recovered from his vehicle. Police also noted that Judson does not have a valid driver’s license.

Judson is being held without bond at the Los Angeles County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Family mourns three lives lost

Family members described the victims as a couple preparing to welcome their first child. Loera-Zarco was eight and a half months pregnant at the time of the crash.

“This unimaginable loss has left our family heartbroken,” wrote Trejo Saldivar’s cousin in a GoFundMe post. “Marc Anthony was a kind, loving and genuine person who meant so much to everyone who knew him. Jennifer was just as special, full of love, warmth, and kindness. Together, they were building a future and excited to welcome their baby boy into this world.”

A vigil was held Friday night in Pomona, where relatives and friends gathered to remember the couple and the unborn child. Family members emphasized that the loss extended beyond two victims.

“I just want people to know that — they keep saying that it was two lives lost, but it was three,” Loera-Zarco’s sister, Amber Torres, told KABC. “The baby was his own person. He was almost here.”
