Boston, MA – A troubling incident in the South End led to the arrest of 42-year-old James Smith on Saturday morning, February 22, 2025, after Boston Police responded to reports of a stabbing and robbery.
Around 9:02 AM, officers from District D-4 were dispatched to 616 Massachusetts Avenue following a call about an armed robbery in progress. As they approached, the situation escalated with news of a stabbing. Upon arrival, police found an adult male victim with a minor laceration. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The victim told officers the attack happened on Camden Street, describing a man who stabbed him with a screwdriver and took his prescription pills and money. He also mentioned the suspect was with an unknown woman. With this information, police began searching the area and soon spotted Smith near 120 Camden Street, accompanied by a woman matching the description provided. A pat-down revealed a knife and screwdriver in Smith’s possession, and a further search turned up a pill bottle bearing the victim’s name along with the stolen cash. The items were returned to the victim.
Smith, a Boston resident, now faces charges related to the robbery and assault. The role of the female companion is still under investigation as police continue their work.
