Police Investigate Fatal Weekend Shooting in Morningside
**MORNINGSIDE, MD** – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is leading an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend in Morningside. The deceased individual has been identified as 38-year-old Joseph Holtz from Suitland.
On Saturday at approximately 12:50 a.m., officers from Morningside Police and Prince George’s County responded to a shooting. The incident took place shortly after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Suitland Road and Randolph Road.
According to the preliminary investigation, the shooting occurred following the crash. Holtz was taken to a hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead. Authorities recovered two guns at the scene.
Investigators have identified all individuals involved and are consulting with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office. Currently, no charges have been filed against anyone involved in the incident.

Initial findings indicate that the bus driver transported the man to Washington, DC, before returning to Prince George’s County. The driver is believed to be acquainted or related to the man. Prior to the bus boarding, the man was allegedly involved in a dispute with another individual on Suitland Road. During the altercation, the suspect may have been armed, although the weapon was not taken onto the bus.
