SECAUCUS, NJ – Three Secaucus police officers have been recognized for their life saving efforts with an elderly patient on January 24th. The department said the heroic act took place in the area of Seaview Drive and New County Road at about 4:45 pm.
Officers arrived at the scene to find the 76-year-old male unresponsive and not breathing.
“Upon his arrival, Lieutenant Christopher Rinaldi found the victim not breathing and no pulse could be found. Lieutenant Rinaldi began Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). At this time, Police Officers Mikhail Kowlessar and Kasey Kelly arrived and assisted with CPR. While performing CPR, the officers utilized their Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and administered one “shock” to the victim and a pulse was found shortly thereafter by Hudson Regional Hospital EMTs who also arrived on the scene,” the department said.
At this time, the man is in stable condition and recovering at the hospital.
“I am extremely proud of these officers and commend their determination in performing these lifesaving measures. I am especially proud that these officers utilized their training and the equipment provided to them, worked as a team and were able to bring this victim back to life,” Chief Dennis Miller said.
