Targeted crosswalk enforcement aims to curb violations and improve roadway safety.

Secaucus, NJ – Police in Secaucus carried out a focused pedestrian safety operation Saturday, targeting high-traffic intersections in an effort to reduce violations and promote safer driving behavior across the township.

The April 4 initiative involved officers from the department’s patrol division positioning themselves at key crosswalks to monitor driver compliance with pedestrian safety laws. The operation was designed to address common issues such as failure to yield, speeding, and distracted driving.

During the four-hour operation, officers conducted 12 traffic stops and issued warnings to drivers байқing violations. Educational materials outlining pedestrian safety laws were also distributed during each stop.

“Officers assigned to the day tour were strategically positioned at high-traffic crosswalks and intersections to observe driver behavior and enforce pedestrian safety laws,” the Secaucus Police Department said.

The department emphasized that the effort was aimed at raising awareness rather than issuing citations.

Focus on education and prevention

Police said the initiative is part of an ongoing effort to improve safety for both residents and visitors navigating Secaucus roadways.

“During this initiative, 12 traffic stops were conducted during a 4-hour period, and drivers were provided with warnings along with educational materials on pedestrian safety laws,” the department stated.

Officials added that reinforcing compliance with traffic laws is key to preventing accidents and protecting pedestrians.
