Vineland crash leads to aggravated manslaughter charge after fatal 2025 collision

Prosecutor says Salem County man accused of DUI and speeding in crash that killed passenger.

Bridgeton, NJ – A Salem County man has been charged in connection with a fatal motor vehicle crash in Vineland that left a passenger dead late last year, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae announced that Donald Hunt Jr., 34, of Upper Neck Road in Pittsgrove, was charged following a December 31, 2025 crash that occurred at approximately 9:18 p.m. Authorities said Vineland Police responded to the area of North Delsea Drive and Columbia Avenue for a reported two-vehicle collision.

Investigators determined that a Chrysler 300, operated by Hunt, struck a Chevrolet driven by Lance Warren, 41, of Philadelphia, who was attempting to execute a U-turn at the time of the crash.

Prosecutors allege DUI and excessive speed

“The State alleges that Mr. Hunt was driving under the influence of alcohol and at a high rate of speed (twice as fast as the speed limit of the area) in the moments before the collision,” the prosecutor’s office said in the release.

Warren died from his injuries after the crash, authorities said.

The investigation was led by Officer Anthony Capelli of the Vineland Police Department Traffic Safety Unit, with assistance from the New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Investigation Unit.

Charges filed months after crash

On April 2, Hunt was charged under complaint-warrant W-2026-00059-I-0614 with first-degree aggravated manslaughter, second-degree vehicular homicide, and third-degree strict liability vehicular homicide.

“Mr. Hunt was arrested on April 3rd and later lodged at the Cumberland County Jail,” the prosecutor’s office stated. “The State filed a motion to detain Mr. Hunt pending trial which is presently scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, April 8th.”

Officials noted that the charges are accusations and that Hunt is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
