Sleeping Subway Rider Robbed of Cell Phone on N Train Near 59th Street, NYPD Says

Police are searching for two suspects accused of stealing a man’s cell phone as he slept aboard a northbound N train before fleeing through a Manhattan subway station.

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying two individuals wanted in connection with a subway robbery that occurred aboard an N train earlier this month.

According to investigators, the incident happened at approximately 1:10 a.m. on June 7 as a northbound N train approached the 59th Street subway station.

Police said a 39-year-old man was asleep on the train when two unidentified suspects approached him and allegedly removed his cell phone.

Victim Tried to Recover Stolen Phone

Authorities said the victim awoke and attempted to get his phone back after realizing it had been taken.

A struggle then broke out between the victim and the suspects.

Despite the confrontation, investigators said the two individuals managed to keep possession of the phone and escape.

Suspects Fled Through Station

After the struggle, the suspects exited the train and fled the station on foot.

Police said they escaped with the victim’s cell phone and remain at large.

No injuries were reported in connection with the robbery.

The NYPD released details of the case through its Crime Stoppers program as detectives continue working to identify the suspects.
