**Clinton Township, NJ** – A 17-year-old from Clinton Township, NJ, is facing charges following a fatal car crash that occurred on August 22 in Franklin Township. The accident resulted in the death of 16-year-old Sophia Detorres of Franklin Township.

Investigations revealed the juvenile driver exceeded the speed limit and failed to stop at a stop sign. There were three other juveniles in the vehicle during the crash.

The juvenile has been charged with second-degree death by auto, fourth-degree assault by auto, and two counts of disorderly persons assault by auto. The motorcyclist attempted to stop but collided with the front of the Toyota, while Lemus-Portillo stayed at the scene to assist investigators.
