Stamford, CT – The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad has completed its probe into a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle on May 17, at approximately 9:13 p.m. The incident occurred on Lockwood Ave. at its intersection with William St.

A 17-year-old from Stamford was operating a 2020 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Lockwood Ave. A southbound 2011 Toyota Corolla, driven by Stamford resident Hector Rolando Lemus-Portillo, 58, attempted a left turn, crossing into the motorcycle’s path. The motorcyclist attempted to stop but collided with the front of the Toyota, while Lemus-Portillo stayed at the scene to assist investigators.

The unnamed motorcycle operator was taken to Stamford Hospital, where medical staff tried life-saving measures. However, he succumbed to multiple blunt force injuries from the crash, as determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The investigation found Lemus-Portillo at fault, leading to a warrant for his arrest. He turned himself in on Friday and was released on a $60,000 bond, with a court date set for November 8.
