Teen gunman chased down after shooting near Burger King

Teen arrested after midday shooting

BOSTON, MA – A daytime shooting outside a Dorchester fast food restaurant left a juvenile injured and led to a foot chase and arrest of a 15-year-old suspect within minutes.

The incident unfolded around 2:43 p.m. Monday near 100 Washington Street, where officers responded to reports of a person with a gun. Officers nearby at the Dr. Albert D. Holland School of Technology reported hearing what sounded like a gunshot moments before being dispatched.

When officers arrived, they found a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot. Police provided aid until Boston EMS transported the victim to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators recovered ballistic evidence in the Burger King parking lot as a description of the suspect was broadcast to responding units.

Police determined the suspect fled the scene on a black moped toward Vaughan Avenue. Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force later located an individual matching the description behind a property on Vaughan Avenue.

Officers observed a moped partially concealed under a tarp. When approached, the suspect fled on foot but was quickly apprehended after a brief chase.

Authorities recovered a 9mm Taurus 709 Slim firearm loaded with four rounds of ammunition, along with the moped and clothing believed to be connected to the shooting.

A 15-year-old male from Dorchester was arrested and is expected to face multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, assault and battery by discharge of a firearm, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The investigation remains ongoing.
