WASHINGTON, D.C. – A somber scene unfolded on Monday afternoon in Northeast D.C., near the Deanwood Metro Station, where two teenagers were tragically shot, one of whom succumbed to their injuries. The D.C. Police were promptly called to the 4700 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast, following reports of the shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an older juvenile male victim with gunshot wounds. He was conscious and breathing at the time and was quickly transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment.

Tragically, another teen was found at the scene in a much more dire state. He was unconscious and not breathing, and despite the efforts of emergency services, police later confirmed that this teen had passed away as a result of the shooting.

In response to this incident, the police have established road closures to facilitate their investigation. The affected areas include the 4600-4800 Block of Minnesota Avenue, NE, between Meade and Quarles Street, and the 4700 Block of Nash Street, NE, between Minnesota Avenue and 48th Street.

As of now, the police have not released detailed information regarding the exact ages of the victims, potential suspects, or the motives behind this incident.
