Teen shot near Eastern Senior High School in Northeast DC

WASHINGTON, DC — A teenage boy was shot Friday morning near the campus of Eastern Senior High School, temporarily placing the school on alert status, according to officials.

Police responded to the 1700 block of East Capitol Street NE, the same block as the school, where they found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound. He was conscious and breathing when medics transported him to the hospital for treatment.

The school’s alert status was lifted shortly after as police continued their investigation into the shooting.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or submit an anonymous tip via the TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
