Woman killed in crash after car strikes utility pole in Gaithersburg

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A 41-year-old woman lost her life Thursday night when a car collided with a wooden utility pole in Gaithersburg, according to police.

Officers and medics responded to the 13300 block of Darnestown Road around 10:30 p.m. on November 21, where they discovered a blue 2007 Toyota Camry had been traveling west before striking the pole.

The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

Montgomery County’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating to determine the circumstances leading up to the fatal crash.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to understand what caused the accident.
