MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — Today, Edward C. Mathews, 47, formerly of Gramercy Way, was sentenced to eight years in New Jersey State Prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges. The sentencing, overseen by the Hon. Gerard H. Breland, J.S.C., in Mount Holly, stems from Mathews’ actions against five former neighbors, involving harassment and racial slurs. Additionally, the drug charge was filed following the discovery of numerous psilocin mushrooms, known for hallucinogenic effects, in his home.

Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw emphasized the commitment of her office to combat bias crimes, stating that such actions are intolerable. The case began on July 2, 2021, when a harassment complaint was filed against Mathews, leading to an investigation that uncovered a pattern of abusive behavior, including leaving a threatening note on a neighbor’s vehicle.
