Two 14-year-olds arrested in separate DC robbery cases involving gunpoint threat and street snatch

Washington, DC – Two 14-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with separate robbery incidents that occurred in different parts of the city over the past month, the Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Tuesday.

In the first case, three suspects armed with handguns approached a victim around 9:05 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, in the 5200 block of Bass Place SE. The group demanded the victim’s phone at gunpoint, and after the victim complied, the suspects fled. Following an investigation by MPD’s Juvenile Investigation and Response Unit, a 14-year-old male from Northwest DC was arrested on August 21 and charged with Armed Robbery.

In a separate incident on July 30 at approximately 7:25 p.m., a suspect approached a victim in the 1100 block of New Jersey Avenue NW and snatched property before fleeing. A 14-year-old male from Southeast DC was arrested on August 22 and charged with Robbery (Snatch).

Both cases remain under investigation. Police have not released the names of the juveniles due to their age, and no additional suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the armed robbery.

The MPD is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in any violent crime case. Tips can be provided anonymously by calling (202) 727-9099 or texting 50411.
