Police release surveillance image after attack on Malcolm X Avenue
SOUTHEAST DC — Detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects after a violent assault in Southeast DC left a victim unconscious and hospitalized.
The assault occurred at approximately 4:33 p.m. on Monday, July 20, in the 500 block of Malcolm X Avenue Southeast.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, two suspects approached the victim and demanded property.
When the victim refused, police said the suspects assaulted the individual and struck the victim with an unknown object.
The victim lost consciousness during the attack.
The suspects fled the area before responding officers arrived.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
Investigators have released surveillance footage of one of the suspects in hopes that someone will recognize the individual.
The investigation remains ongoing.
