Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 5 p.m. in the area of the High Point Apartment Complex. Investigators said officers from the Toms River Police Department soon located the suspect vehicle as it left the area and attempted a traffic stop.

Pursuit ended with crash and foot chase

Authorities said the driver refused to stop, leading officers from the Lakewood Police Department and Toms River on a brief pursuit before crashing into another vehicle. The uninvolved driver suffered injuries in the collision and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

After the crash, investigators said the suspect ran from the scene on foot but was quickly taken into custody near Chestnut Street and Vine Avenue by responding officers.

Multi-agency investigation continues

Moore-Jackson was lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending court proceedings.
