Woman arrested on multiple warrants after drug discovery in Cumberland

Five warrants catch up to Frostburg woman in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, MD – An arrest tied to unresolved court cases escalated into a series of new charges after officers encountered a Frostburg woman wanted on multiple warrants and allegedly found her in possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.

Shana Dakota Claggett, 27, was taken into custody following an encounter that confirmed five active bench warrants issued by the Allegany County District Court. Four of the warrants, issued January 20, alleged failures to comply with court orders connected to prior theft and controlled dangerous substance cases. A fifth warrant was issued February 5 after she failed to appear in court on theft charges.

During the arrest, Claggett allegedly provided officers with a false name in an attempt to avoid being taken into custody. Police also reported locating suspected cocaine, Lorazepam, and drug paraphernalia in her possession.

Claggett was brought before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. She is currently being held without bond.
